For many years, the true identity of the author was a mystery. The original Italian publisher, Edizioni Piemme, insisted on supporting the idea that many kids had about Geronimo and his adventures being real. It was later revealed that Elisabetta Dami, an Italian author, world traveller, and co-owner of the company that publishes Geronimo's books, was also his creator.
