As a famous aardvark told us, having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card! Although some things are different because of the pandemic, there are still tons of things to read, watch, listen to, learn and do. Here are nine of them:
1. TPL Kids
If you're reading this, you're already here! Write silly captions, share jokes and riddles with other kids, take a poll or quiz and check out our Wonder Wall full of weird and fascinating facts.
If you miss after school clubs at the library (your neighbourhood librarian misses you, too!), check out our live and recorded programs. Plus here are Storytime at Home videos you can sing along to, right in your living room. There are also fun activities to try at home, like Creativity Challenges and Mini Makers. From designing a dinosaur to building your own time machine, go on amazing adventures with your family!
3. OverDrive Kids
So many ebooks, audiobooks and videos! You can borrow up to 30 items at a time and never worry about overdue fines. Read on your computer or ask a grown-up to get the Libby app on a phone or tablet.
4. Cantook Station Jeunesse
French ebooks for kids of all ages.
5. Hoopla
Looking for Big Nate and Archie comics? Want to watch episodes of Magic School Bus or Lego Ninjago? Hoopla has comics, TV shows, music and movies.
6. Kanopy
Kanopy Kids has movies, short films and even videos for learning new languages. Oh, and that famous aardvark mentioned earlier? You can watch him in episodes of his show, Arthur!
7. Dial-a-Story
Listen to a story over the phone. Available in 16 different languages! Just call 416-395-5400.
8. Brainfuse
Got homework? Brainfuse can help! There are lessons and practice tests and even free online tutoring for students in all grades. Who knows, you might start enjoying math quizzes. Stranger things have happened!
9. Ready for Reading
Got a younger brother or sister who's under 5 years old? They'll love these songs, stories, rhymes and activities!
These are only nine of the library's services you can use without leaving your sofa. There are at least 29 more! If you're curious about what else the library has to offer, tell your family to check out this page. Have fun exploring together!
