Did you hear the great news? Kids don't have to pay overdue fines anymore!
If you've ever gotten in trouble because you borrowed a gigantic stack of books and missed the due date... well, you can breathe a huge sigh of relief. Of course, you are still responsible for returning your books! Although you don't have to worry about overdue fines, you should still bring things back on time, especially if other people are waiting.
Right now this only applies to children's library cards, although we haven't been charging overdue fines on any cards during the pandemic. So if you ask a parent or guardian to check out a bunch of Geronimo Stiltons for you, don't leave the books under your bed and forget about them! Here's more information about fines for grown-ups to read. We hope we can phase out overdue fines for everybody soon. More and more libraries are going fine-free, including 189 library systems in Canada!
