Toys Alive!

Ever wonder what your toys get up to when you're not around?

Trouble, if you've seen any of the Toy Story movies! Imagine your favourite toy on an adventure of their own. Do they get lost in the library? Trip and fall into another kid's backpack? Get trapped in the book return box? Meet a taco plushie and a superhero action figure? Write or draw their story!

The idea of toys coming to life has inspired different books, including classic stories like Winnie-the-Pooh, Pinocchio and The Velveteen Rabbit. Dive deeper into the toy box of imagination at our Toys Alive! exhibit. Come make your own wooden peg doll and snap a family photo with a Pinocchio-inspired puppet stage!

The exhibit also features amazing pop-up books and other treasures from our Osborne Collection of Early Children's Books. It's on display at the Toronto Reference Library through the summer and runs until September 6. Tell a grown-up and make it part of a fun day downtown! Who knows, maybe your visit will spark some new ideas for creating your own toy stories...
