Reading Challenge 2023: A Book by a 2SLGBTQ+ Author Who is Also Part of Another Marginalized Group

What does it mean for people to be marginalized? The word comes from margin, which means an edge or a border. Someone who is marginalized is removed from the centre and pushed to the edges. They are excluded from full participation in society.

People on the margins face disadvantages and discrimination. It could be because of their race, or it could be because of other things, like disability or religion. Throughout history and around the world, different communities have been marginalized. It's still happening today, which is why it's important to listen to the voices and stories of those being excluded. We hope taking the Reading Challenge helps you discover and understand new perspectives!
