Text of article: More than 1200 votes were cast for the new Mayor of Torontoville during a whirlwind 13-day election cycle.

More than 500 votes were cast online, and more than 600 were cast across 40 branches. Despite an impressive online showing by opposing candidate Dennis, Anita won the election by a comfortable margin, with 35.8% of the votes.

The first-time candidate outlined plans to help people have more affordable housing, and some ways to make the city safer for pedestrians. However, she has always said her main concern is climate change.

"The parking lots of today are the community gardens of tomorrow," said Anita in a rousing victory speech in front of a cheering crowd outside her campaign headquarters late Wednesday evening. "We will all see a beautiful future together."

Next Steps for Last Place

About 1 in 7 kids voted for Trenton, who earned 190 votes -- the fewest of four candidates -- in yesterday's mayoral election.

The 43-year-old, who describes his fiscal policies as "playful, but serious," isn't letting defeat get him down. He's already planning his next steps.

"I am going to become the Treasurer of the St. James Town Business Owners Association. You can make a huge difference to the economy at the local level," Trenton told reporters at a press conference very, very late last night.

"Plus," he added with a smile, "I love treasure."
