Song: Old MacDonald Had a Farm

Related to: Hearing Words, Sing

Songs with animal sounds provide your child with an opportunity to hear the sounds in words, developing the skill that helps them sound out words when learning to read. Consider finding pictures of animals to link words to pictures.

Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O.
And on his farm he had a cow, E-I-E-I-O.
With a moo, moo here and a moo, moo there.
Here a moo, there a moo,
Everywhere a moo-moo,
Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O.

You can continue adding as many animals as you like, replacing the cow, but following the pattern:
"...And on his farm he had a pig, E-I-E-I-O. With an oink, oink here and an oink, oink there..."
