Happy Holidays!

It has been one bumpy sleigh ride of a year! Let's celebrate the winter holidays with safe and fun activities. We have tons of online programs you can enjoy at home:

Live programs

Applefun Puppetry presents The Penguin Show
There's a penguin at the puppet show. How do we get him to stay? Come laugh and sing along at this live puppet show! Tune in on December 21 at 11am or watch the replay.

Make Your Own Puppet
In these two workshops with Applefun Puppetry, learn to make a sock puppet using materials from around the house. Then build a stage so you can put on your own puppet shows! You will need to find a sock, a shoebox and craft supplies ahead of time. December 28 and 29, 2pm.

Noon Year's Eve Storytime
Let's count down to noon with songs, stories and rhymes! December 31, 11:35am.

Watch anytime

Blast off into space
Discover amazing facts about the solar system and the astronauts who explore it! Then build your own space station in a workshop with Quantum Kidz

Learn coding basics
Can you tell a robot how to build a pizza? Absolute beginners will have fun exploring coding concepts.

Watch a chemical reaction
Does mixing any two substances cause a chemical reaction? Find out as we demonstrate science in action!

Want to do more science experiments of your own? Check out our Mini Makers and Fun with STEM videos on our YouTube channel. Build race tracks and rollercoasters, launch catapults and rockets, "sew" a constellation and more!

Read more books
Not sure what to read next? We recommend new titles and hidden gems. We also have read-alike lists for graphic novels and popular middle-grade fiction. Plus, there's still time to complete the 2020 Reading Challenge! Submit your online entry form here by Sunday, January 3, 2021 to enter the prize draw.

Listen to a story
Our Storytime at Home and L'heure du Conte videos on YouTube are filled with songs and rhymes. You can also call Dial-a-Story to listen to recorded stories over the phone, available in 16 languages. Check out the featured holiday story of the Nutcracker, retold by dancers from the National Ballet of Canada.
