Branch Art Exhibits: Water+Colour by Andrzej Rajfura
Throughout May, Andrzej Rajfura's work is on display at Oakwood Village Library & Arts Centre. The exhibit is called: Water+colour. Rajfura is a self-taught artist who finds peace in art books and galleries. What fascinates Rajfura most is the vividness and beauty of Japanese ukiyo-e art which is then interpreted as the artist's own style of a "flowing world".
This exhibit is part of TPL's Art Exhibit Space program. Toronto Public Library provides space for local artists to exhibit their work at locations across the city. These exhibits aim to reflect the diverse cultural interests of the city and its neighbourhoods.

Throughout May, artist Jane Cousens's work is on display at Leaside Library. The exhibit is called: What If by Jane Cousens. Cousens is a Toronto based artist who work in multimedia including collage, encaustic, and printmaking. Cousens uses a variety of media to explore feelings, to express meaning and to tell stories through her artwork. The result is both meditative and playful and relies on nature and natural materials and pigments in its composition and construction.

Throughout May, artist Nora Tunggadevi's work is on display at Albion branch. The exhibit is called: Impactful Society. Nora is an artist whose work consists of a wide range of practices including traditional art, digital art, programming and robotics, as well as nail art. Her work is inspired by her observations of life as a disabled artist, and Impactful Society showcases her depictions of people who have made a major impact on her life. Through her art, she hopes that she can inspire others to appreciate the world even more.

Sucheta Shankar is a visual artist who uses her work to express raw emotions. Her artistic journey is motivated by the tension that exists with the immigrant life, and the involuntary emotions fighting against the logical understanding of cause and effect.

Throughout May, artist Daniel Ignacio?s work is on display at Agincourt branch. The exhibit is called: Walled Kingdom. Daniel is a contemporary visual artist and author who characterizes his whole body of work as a "gathering of dreams, woes, and prose of chaos" that attempt to question the point our existence when surrounded by crisis and the intimations of dystopia. His works on display in Walled Kingdom utilizes heavily stylized cityscapes to reflect on the idea of one's "perfect world".

Throughout May, Lisa Wilson's work is on display at Mimico Library. Wilson is a Toronto-based artist who studied painting and drawing at Concordia University, animation at Emily Carr and a new media diploma from Sheridan College. Wilson includes as part of her artist statement; My lettering work explores themes of home, healing, recovery and resilience. I take life experiences and turn them into lettering made from real objects.
